My Denis the Menace

You came to me

Holding on to a panda in your arms a pacifier in your mouth

Tears of joy welling in my eyes, ‘Nanu is hear I shout'!

Couldn’t hold, could not touch, we held it all back for month long week,

Finally glued in embrace, felt the love I daily seek

And now you hold me by your fingers and lead

Towards a new venture, a new misdeed

Climbing my bed, eager for pillow fights,

Like your Mom, bruised yet reaching new heights

Shrieking when held back, yet endearing us with your babbling talk,

Running with feet unsure, yet impressing us with your presidential walk

You are my pride ,when holding to an edge, eyes narrowed wishing to soar

You are my pleasure when you give Nanu a ‘paari’ and instead of you he says ‘more’
